Laura Gulbe reaches last 8 of Riga Open…before bowing out

Laura Gulbe, 14 year old 2nd sister of Ernests, enjoyed a decent run in this weeks Riga Junior Open. She was awarded a Wild Card and did not disappoint!
In her 2nd round, she defeated Alina Soltanici of Moldova 7-6(1) 6-2, before losing to Marianna Zakarlyuk of Ukraine, 2-6 1-6.
Ernests eldest sister Elina completed a Masters Degree in Law, whilst based in London. She is now studying in Paris for a similar degree in Art, clearly not inclined to hit a ball around as a career!
Ernests has a great interest in art also…he has hinted he wants to study this too at sometime in the future.
Ernests brother Kristaps is based at Saddlebrook, Florida. He is pursuing a career in golf.
His Mum Milena is a theatre actress, and Father Ainars is an investment businessman..having been a basketball player..sadly injuries curtailed his career. Now Ainars travels regularly on tour with Ernests.
Ernests Grandfather was on the former Soviet Union basketball team which won the European Championships.
A very talented family!!!!
